We have been here a few times and love the classic Italian old school vibes. Each time the service has been really solid. For a table in the main dining area, reservation is likely required. We have only actually ate at the outer tables or the bar but still really enjoy it. You get to experience the surge of people coming in and waiting for their table. For a quieter experience, they still have their outdoor dining option. Our favorite is the Veal Parmesan. The lasagna, and baked clams are great too. The food isn't mind blowing or anything, youre really here for the ambience!
This is your classic white tablecloth Italian restaurant and it was SO good. I didn't make a reservation but was able to luckily snag a table for 2 even though the restaurant was pretty full. The waitstaff were all very friendly and the vibe felt cozy. The food was delicious and served perfect portions. If you drive, they do offer a valet service for parking which is a nice option since street parking can get tricky in Brooklyn. I'll definitely be coming back in the future!
Amazing family environment!! Everyone was super welcoming we had a group of 15 at 10p the food came out fast and hot!! Delicious will definitely recommend
A classic red sauce joint that has been around for 124 years, yup they opened in 1900! The decor was amazing and you know what else was amazing? Our waiter. Our waiter was so cool, he was funny, friendly and warm, he said he has been working there for 20 years. Overall, I enjoyed the meal but I enjoyed certain dishes more than others, apps and anything that had their red sauce were winners. Overall, a place to visit for the decor, service and delicious food. The food: Fried Calamari- I thought this was really delicious, I did wish they didn't toss the marinara with the calamari together, I prefer mine to be a bit more crunchy but this is a must order. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=DOqekJjLbjUsbhqWqhlXxA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Clams Oreganata- Oh man the clams were perfect. Super fresh and perfectly baked. This was a winner. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=nC2zhl74YZ6H0aoxvXvpqw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Roasted Red Peppers w/ Anchovy- My friends at the table really enjoyed this dish. I thought the roasted red peppers were perfect but the anchovies were a bit too salty for me. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=hB0ZCnui4MgZVxDdHn-avA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Eggplant Parmiagiana- Anything with red sauce. This was really good, perfectly cooked with a nice wonderful flavor from the red sauce. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=6qVua1gX_Q9KAOeVnPo9Aw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Ravioli with Meat Sauce- I enjoyed this as well, ravioli was made well but this came off a bit too soft for me. Rigatoni w/ Sausage and Broccoli Rabe- I thought this dish was just OK. I thought the flavor on this was a bit basic. It was just pasta, oil, sausage and the rabe. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=O9njYXXiJ8LP1R1gfTSqug&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Pork Chop alla Bamonte w/ Mixed Hot and Sweet Peppers- This was sadly my least fav dish and also the one I was most excited to try but the pork came out dry. It didn't have much flavor but I did enjoy the the peppers that came with the dish.
Old school place with good Italian food. The waiters are very attentive and make you feel special. Standard meals, we had a few of them. Great red sauce! Why they didn't get 5-stars: The baked clams were a little bland and the broiled fish tasted like nothing.
There are few classic Italian restaurants left in Brooklyn, but this one is going strong! Excellent pasta and red sauce, a friendly waitstaff and lots of decor from the 1960-1980's. There is even an old pay phone you can use. We had a great meal and experience here and would go back! The chicken parmigiana was the ideal taste, texture, and size for the price. The chicken cacciatore was flavorful and tender, with just enough spices to keep it unique. And the stuffed mushrooms were large and not overwhelmed by the breaded stuffing. The prices are very fair for the large portions!
